The ship
In 1891 the ship was built at the shipyard "E. Smit" in Hoogezand (5 km southeast of Groningen). It was a fast sea tjalk, with which the North and Baltic Sea also had to be navigable. After WWII, the ship lay still for a long time after which it was rediscovered in 1975 and converted for sailing trips with guests. Since then, De Albertha has been on the road with sailing enthusiasts and has undergone many adjustments, so that it meets all the requirements of today.
Interior
The salon at De Albertha is a large, light room that is finished with lots of wood. Here are four tables with long benches and wooden so that there is enough space for all guests.
On the left there is a step to the kitchen. This is equipped with everything you need for preparing a tasty meal for a large group. There is a large stainless steel gas stove and a long worktop with two sunken sinks and a multifunctional water tap.
There are two 2-person cabins and five 4-person cabins. These are beautiful high huts with ceilings of 2.60 meters high. Each cabin has its own sink and central heating.
Sailing on the Baltic Sea
The Albertha is one of the few flat-bottomed sailors that can sail in the Dutch, German Wadden and Baltic Sea. This is due to the extremely solid construction of the ship. These sailing areas ensure that a sailing trip with the Albertha has many possibilities. The general rule is: the ship is at home in all these waters and all voyages are possible. At the moment, the focus of the tours is in the Baltic Sea. The sailing area "Baltic Sea" is very versatile. It is not called one of the most beautiful sailing areas in the world for nothing.
Laboe is the home of the ship. It is a nice holiday village with an interesting harbor, a beach and a great view of the Kiel Fjord.
