Possible travel schedule

The indicated program is a guide and can be adjusted under the influence of weather, currents and wind. Flexibility is the rule on this journey.

Day 1 Inverness
The sailing trip from Inverness to Amsterdam begins. On board you will meet the crew and fellow passengers. You have time to explore and settle in the ship. After the welcome dinner and the instruction about the ins and outs on board, there is still time for a nice walk through Inverness. Inverness is a very beautiful place with cozy pubs where live music is often played.

Day 2 At sea
Sailing trip North Sea from Inverness to Amsterdam is now really starting! Early on the sails are hoisted and the captain sets sail for Aberdeen. After about 24 hours of sailing, the Flying Dutchman arrives there.

Day 3 Aberdeen
Aberdeen is Scotland's third city. This is nicknamed the 'granite city', because many buildings are made of granite. To soften this granite, it was conceived to include a lot of rose bushes in public greenery. At one point there were so many rose bushes that the nickname Granite City was compromised, as some people were already talking about the Rose City.

The city center revolves around Union Street and ends to the east at Mercat Cross. The cross stands at Castlegate, where the town's castle once stood, but which now contains only a market square. From the market square, walk along the cobblestones of Shiprow south west past Provost Ross's House and on to the harbour. At the end of the afternoon you will set the sails again and continue the sailing trip.

Day 4 Holy Island
Today you will probably arrive early on Holy Island, a very special island on the border with England.
The island is connected to the mainland by a dam that floods at high tide. The actual name is Lindisfarne and this is also the name of the monastery on the island. The monastery was founded around 635 by the Irish monk Aiden of Lindesfarne, who came from the island of Iona. In 793 the monastery was sacked by the Vikings. In the southeast corner of the island, Lindisfarne Castle sits on a steep cliff, a 16th century castle that was restored in the early XNUMXth century.

The ship anchors in the salt marsh area around Holy Island, amid gray seals. Visit the island extensively, the zodiac provides transport. In the course of the evening the Flying Dutchman will leave for Whitby.

Day 5 & 6 Whitby
During the day the ship arrives in Whitby, a harbor town with a venerable history, dating back to the Middle Ages . There are still fishing boats in the harbour. The Flying Dutchman has become a well-known appearance and is always warmly welcomed. There is so much to see and enjoy that the ship will stay here for a day. The harbor is the heart of the city.

Day 7 North Sea
At the first daylight you leave the harbor, the sails are hoisted and the weather reports, the waiting schedule, the route, the sail setting, etc. are discussed. Sailing into the evening with perhaps a fantastic sunset. Perhaps you will be accompanied by the moon and the stars to the Dutch coast, a sailing trip of 220 Nm.

Day 8 IJmuiden
You will probably see the white dunes of the Dutch coast appear at the end of the afternoon. Here you sail through the locks of IJmuiden and at the end of this impressive journey, the ship moors in Amsterdam and lets everyone there enjoy a well-deserved drink.

Day 9 Amsterdam
