This Loch Ness journey goes from the west to the east coast across the Highlands via the Caledonia Canal, one of the most beautiful waterways in the world. This canal connects the beautiful Lochs, of which Loch Ness is the most famous. From Fort William the ship sails through the mountain landscape of the Scottish Highlands to Inverness. It offers spectacular landscapes and vistas. The ship also passes famous distilleries that you can visit if desired.

Travel information

Possible itinerary: The indicated program is a guideline and can be adjusted under the influence of weather, current and wind. Flexibility is the rule on this trip.

Day 1 Oban
From 18.00 pm you will be welcomed on board in Oban and you will be introduced to the crew and fellow passengers. This is followed by a delicious meal and of course live music from the musicians. Oban is a beautifully situated town at the foot of the Lorn Mountains. High above the city is McCraighs Tower, a XNUMXth century replica of the Collosseum. Oban has been called the jewel of the west highlands, with its winding streets and picturesque bay filled with yachts, ferries and small fishing boats. The Flying Dutchman is located on the north pier, less than a hundred meters from the famous Oban whiskey distillery.

Day 2 Mulli
After a delicious breakfast, the journey continues to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Along the way, the crew gives sailing and safety instructions so that everyone can and may help hoist the sails. You sail right past the beautifully restored Duart Castle. Picturesque Tobermory is the largest town on the island, located in the northeast. It is a charming fishing town with brightly colored houses and a range of small businesses including a chocolate shop, bakery, candle maker, silversmith, art gallery and potter. Tobermory is also known for its arts centres, a small theater company and some good pubs and eateries. And of course you can visit the Tobermory whiskey distillery on this Loch Ness & Music & Whiskey trip.

Day 3 Corpach
After a beautiful evening with lots of music, of course, it's off to Fort William, where the entrance to the Caledonia Canal begins. Enjoy what there is to see on the beautiful West Coast along the way: space and vistas of the Isle of Mull and other beauties of unspoilt Scotland. The ship moors in Corpach with a view of Fort William and the highest mountain in the UK: the striking Ben Nevis.

Day 4 Fort William
The journey continues through the sea lock at Corpach, the entrance to the Caledonia Canal and through the famous Neptune's Staircase, 8 locks in a row. The Flying Dutchman is always very popular, because it is one of the largest ships that can pass through the canal and the locks.
Passing the 8 locks takes 3 hours and you can take the opportunity to visit Fort William and/or the Ben Nevis Whiskey distillery. After these locks you enter a fairytale narrow canal with towering trees in autumn colors and sail over beautiful lakes. At the end of the day the ship arrives in Fort Augustus, a famous town with beautiful shops and cozy pubs.

Day 5 Loch Ness
Sail on the famous Loch Ness Lake and who knows, you might even see Nessie. Monster or not, it is a wonderful trip in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. You will pass the famous Urquhart Castle a few meters away. Discovering Scotland in this way is fantastic. At the end of the day we look for a beautiful anchorage on the Loch Ness lake and we enjoy a beautiful and special musical evening.

Day 6 Inverness
The Loch Ness & Music & Whiskey journey continues and after a good night's sleep anchors for the route to Inverness. Inverness is a pleasant city with authentic cafes, where you can enjoy traditional Scottish music in the evenings.

Day 7 Farewell
Unfortunately, this wonderful Loch Ness & Music & Whiskey journey has come to an end. After breakfast and exchanging unique experiences, it is time to say goodbye to the fellow passengers and crew of the Flying Dutchman.
