Every day ocean sailing is alternated with a full day on the Cape Verde island of destination. On the islands we organize an excursion with local guides. During the sailing trip you are invited to help with all work on the sailing, steering and navigation. Life on board is made pleasant by the professional chef and the enthusiastic crew. It will be an unforgettable sailing holiday.
Cape Verde is located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 600 kilometers off the coast of Senegal. The archipelago has about 450.000 inhabitants and consists of 9 inhabited and some uninhabited islands. We go island hopping from island to island. There is plenty to discover on and around the Cape Verde islands. The water is full of flying fish, tuna, whales and sea turtles. The highly varied landscape is characterized by steep terraced fields with banana and coffee plantations, black volcano slopes, sandy deserts and a fierce foamy, deep blue ocean.
The tropical climate and the ever-prevailing trade wind make Cape Verde a paradise for sailors and sailing holidays. Every day ocean sailing is alternated with a full day on the island of destination, where the crew shows the most beautiful places and sights.
Sal, Santiago and São Vicente
The Cape Verde trip starts on the island of Sal. At the end of the afternoon, everyone steps on board and the crew welcomes you. After a good night's sleep, the ship will depart for the island of Santiago for the first day of sailing. In the early morning of day 3, the crew will drop anchor in Tarrafal. After a full day and night on Santiago, the tour heads to São Vicente. With clear weather you can see the still active volcano Fogo. We spend the night at sea. When the sun comes up we will also see land. First São Vicente and soon after also Santo Antão. The ship anchors in Mindelo Bay, Cape Verde's second largest city and port. There are restaurants, an indoor market and shops to buy souvenirs. You can explore the city on your own.
Santo Antão and São Nicolao
Santo Antão is considered the most beautiful island in the archipelago. It is also the greenest and most fertile of all Cape Verde islands. A visit to this island should therefore not be missed. We take a breathtaking walk down from the rim of the volcano crater.
On the sailing trip to São Nicolao you may be able to spot pilot whales and large groups of dolphins. On São Nicolau you can visit rock formations spectacularly carved by the sea or drive to National Park 'Monto Gordo' for a walk on the mountain. Groque is fired at various places on the island. If one of the 'factories' is open, you make a stop to see how it works.
Boa Vista
Boa Vista is one of the islands where tourism is developing strongly. Some huge resorts have sprung up along the coast. The beaches are therefore beautiful and the interior is known for the very characteristic walking sand dunes.
Food allergies and dietary requirements
If you have dietary requirements or allergies, it is best to discuss this before booking. Often it is not a problem, but sometimes some cooperation is expected from the guests if special products have to be purchased, which will then have to be taken by the guests themselves, for example.
