8-day trip: Island hopping with La Boheme

Sunday 04 July 2021 20: 00 t / m Sunday 11 July 2021 16: 00

sailing holiday weekend wadden sea friesland

Come sail along and get a breath of fresh air

A good week of sailing on a traditional and fast sailing ship, enjoy sailing, the nice harbors, nature and the well-organized catering.

Trip description

The first day you are welcome on board at 21.00 p.m. You meet the crew and the other sailors. After breakfast the sailing instruction follows. You learn which sails there are, how they should be hoisted and operated. The ship then sails out of the harbor. When the sails are set, you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the view, or to actively help on deck and steer, for example. Lunch will be served along the way and will be moored in a harbor at the end of the afternoon.
Sailing on the Wadden Sea is a unique experience, nature on the water and the islands is particularly beautiful. While sailing you will pass sandbanks where the seals are sunbathing. The skipper takes the tide into account and if the weather conditions are favorable, it will dry out and you can go mudflat walking.
In the evening the hot meal is ready. Every day the journey goes to a different port and there is the opportunity to visit attractive towns, sit on a terrace or take a walk.

The sailing

How many hours a day is sailed depends on the wishes of the group. For example, a sailing trip with the setting sun on a beautiful summer evening can create the ultimate holiday feeling, a day of cruising and therefore a lot of work on board provides the real sailor feeling. No two days are the same. The skipper does his utmost to put together a nicely varied program. The final route depends on wind and weather conditions.

During the day

During the day you decide how you plan your time. Of course you can help with sailing, practice knots, help with maneuvering, navigate or maybe even be at the helm. But perhaps you prefer to relax, enjoy nature, the water, the wind and the waves, or read a good book.

In any case, there is plenty to see: there are always other ships on the water, the picturesque harbor towns and views come by, birds fly by and sit on islands and on the Wadden Sea you have a good chance of seeing seals - whether they are swimming or sunbathe on a sandbank. And if it is possible in terms of tides and weather, a flat-bottomed ship can run dry on the bottom of the mudflats at low tide and you can walk around in search of a souvenir from the bottom of the Wadden Sea!

Sailing makes you hungry, so of course lunch is also served while sailing! The ship's cook ensures that you are not short of anything, and also provides coffee, tea and the occasional treat.

In general, you will arrive later in the afternoon in one of the harbor towns on the IJsselmeer or the Wadden Sea.

'in the evening

While you help moor the ship, the ship's cook is already preparing dinner. The sailors eat together on board, but after that there is of course still time to explore the area. You can go into town, explore the area, walk or rent a bicycle. Or you stay on board to play a game with the other sailors, find a quiet corner or just have a nice chat.

Sunday

This day the ship sails back to the port of departure and you leave the ship around 16:00 PM, but with a completely different feeling than you boarded at the beginning of the week, with new memories and hopefully even new friends. You will probably already be looking forward to the next time you come sailing.
