The fortified city of Muiden is located at the very bottom of the IJsselmeer, or the IJsselmeer at the mouth of the Vecht. The sailing ships are moored at the famous café Ome Ko. When you step on board, the IJsselmeer is at your feet.
A sailing trip to Pampus is highly recommended. This historic fortress island is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam and the New Dutch Water Line and is on the World Heritage List of Unesco. From Muiden it is also possible to book a multi-day sailing holiday on both the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea.
