Vrouwe Jitske

Sailing is central

The Vrouwe Jitske is a beautiful, traditional and well-lined ship. It was built in 1907 and served as a cargo ship for years until times changed.
Due to her classic appearance, she seems to have stepped out of a history book. She is perfect for smaller groups who want to join an adventure. It is also a fast ship. Not so important if you have all the time, but nice if you want to do a competition. The ship has little draft; so ideal on the mudflats and for beaches.

Interior

The Vrouwe Jitske is a sailing ship with a simple but very cozy passenger accommodation. It is cozy in the former cargo hold. A great place to eat together, play a game or read a book. Games and drawing equipment are abundant and there is also an interesting ship's library. There is a galley with a five-burner stove, an extensive set of cookware, and all the usual handy hand utensils available. There is a bathroom with a large sink and a small shower. Drinking water should of course be used very sparingly, especially on longer trips. There is 1000 liters in the tank, which is no more than when everyone takes a shower every day. The adventurous wanderer, who does not want to go to ports or as little as possible, will mainly have to use the sink. The shower and toilet are still manually pumped. You can notice the difference between a house and a ship when you are on board.

Sleeping space

The sleeping area occupies one room in which 10 single beds and two French beds are accommodated.
The skipper has limited the number of passengers to 12; this leaves room on the other beds for luggage. Sheets and pillows with pillowcase are provided, you only need to bring a sleeping bag yourself.

Sailing area

The Lady Jitske does not have a fixed departure port. Until June she sails mainly from Edam and the rest of the year from Makkum or Enkhuizen. Skipper Cyntha would also like to take guests on board in another port, but in that case crossing costs will be charged. Feel free to ask about the possibilities.
