Aegir

Welcome to the Aegir

Two-masted clipper the Aegir can be booked for one-day or multi-day sailing trips on the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer and the Frisian Randmeer. The ship's home port is Harlingen, but other ports of departure are possible in consultation.

The two-masted clipper Aegir was built in 1904 according to 'Frisian size', which means that Frisian locks and inland waterways can easily be passed through. From 1983 to 1986, skipper and owner Jaap Gomes restored the original hull into a comfortable, but above all good sailing ship that has been sailing from Harlingen ever since.
With the help of the company, the extra sails and the more than 30 years of experience of skipper Jaap, the most beautiful places on the Wadden Sea are sailed. Anyone who takes up the challenge of the Wadden Sea with Jaap, is guaranteed to experience an adventurous and active sailing trip after which it is well relaxed with the help of the beer tap and self-caught fish.

Interior

The Aegir has 2 and 4 cabins for multi-day sailing trips. This makes the ship suitable for groups up to 26 people and for company outings and training sessions, families and groups of friends. A maximum of 35 passengers can go on day trips.

A unique detail is the original hatch deck, which means that the roof of the very spacious day room can be removed, which gives a lot of cooling on warm summer evenings. Because the entire ship is equipped with central heating, many groups took a sailing trip to the islands in November and December.

History

The Aegir was built in 1904 at shipyard Vooruit in Enkhuizen as a sailing ship under the name Risico. The ship was owned by the Vermeulen family from Zeeland and therefore transported a lot of cargo between Zeeland and Friesland. In 1943 the first engine was built into the Risk and the Risk was gradually converted into a motor ship.
In the 60s, cargo shipping for the ship came to an end and it came to lie in a town near Antwerp. In 1983 skipper and owner Jaap Gomes saw the ship neglected and burned down in Antwerp and was immediately sold. From 1983 to 1986 he restored the original hull into a comfortable, but above all good sailing ship. Since 1986 Jaap has been sailing with the Aegir again on the Waddenzee and the IJsselmeer.
