This beautiful Groningen flat-bottomed boat was originally a deck vessel. The Zuiderzee, formerly the Welvaart, is one of the oldest ships in the Dutch fleet, built in 1892 at the Barkmeijer yard in Briltil. At the end of the 20s she was no longer profitable as a freighter and in the subsequent crisis years served as a trading ship for a sailing peddler.

In 1978 the tjalk was re-rigged and equipped for passenger navigation. There was also a wooden deckhouse. The ship has recently been tackled inside and out and without losing the authentic atmosphere, the ship is completely ready for the coming sailing seasons.

 

On board you will find a simple, but attractively furnished guest house with a fully equipped galley. The Zuiderzee day center is suitable for a maximum of 12 people.

If you are going to plan a multi-day event, such as a weekend or a week, then staying overnight with 8 to 10 people is optimal. If there are some small people, then staying overnight is also fine with 12 people. In the bathroom is the toilet and the possibility to wash.

The layout makes the most of the space and the beds are spacious enough and comfortable.

 

The sailing characteristics of the ship are good. She is quite deep in the water due to 8 tons of counterweight on the plane. This makes her a safe ship with a surprisingly good sailing ability. The total sail area is currently approximately 225 square meters.
