Two-masted Tjalk, De Vrouwezand, was built in 1903. Until 1976 the ship was used as a cargo ship on the Dutch inland waterways; as a 1-masted sailing ship she visited English and Danish ports in her younger years. In 1976 she received a rejuvenation treatment and a new mission: she was converted into a 2-masted sailing vessel and became one of the first ships of the brown fleet to sail with paying guests.
In 1994 the Vrouwezand was purchased by Yvonne van Scheijen and immediately renovated. In 2012, the sleeping area under the fore ship has been completely redesigned. A new hatch cover has been made for the mast. She is now a modern and comfortable sailing ship that meets all safety requirements. The spacious day room offers space for a decent kitchen with an 4pits hospitality gas stove and an extensive kitchen wardrobe. In addition to a long dining table, there is also a smaller dining / card table. A modern geyser provides the hot water for the kitchen, the laundry room and the shower and there are separate ladies' and men's toilets. The Vrouwezand is very spacious and there is headroom everywhere. Light, fresh colors give the stay a pleasant homely character.
