Welcome to the Jan Huygen
This ship was already built in 1908/1909 as a sailing freighter, but a lot has happened since then. In 1985 this koftjalk entered the charter business and has already been renovated a number of times. Today, the Jan Huygen offers room for 22 overnight guests and 36 guests can experience a beautiful sailing day on board. In the summer months the ship can be found in the Baltic Sea, with Kiel and Stralsund as home ports and in the spring and autumn in the Netherlands.
Interior
In the spacious, rustic saloon day room with open kitchen you can meet at three tables, chat, get to know each other, have a delicious dinner or just have a drink. In addition, there is a well-stocked bookshelf and a wide range of games for young and old. The spacious galley has everything you need to prepare a meal for large groups.
The 7 cabins are equipped with comfortable beds, a washbasin with cold and warm running water, own central heating, sockets (220) and sufficient storage space.
Sailing is for everyone
Sailing experience is absolutely not necessary for a trip. The crew present will teach you everything about setting sails, tying knots and of course navigation. So it doesn't take long before you are in control yourself. True sailors and those who still know nothing about sailing can indulge themselves with the great diversity of sails, such as long sails, topsails, staysails, breefok and water sail. The koftjalk has a standard vehicle of 300m² which can be expanded to 600m².
The Jan Huygen has very nice sailing characteristics and is known for its enormous stability. The ship is therefore not easily slanted and can have a lot of wind and waves. Thanks to the high side walls, the ship is particularly child-friendly so that parents can also relax. Of course children and youth groups are always welcome!
