The Catherina was built in 1920 as a coastguard cutter with auxiliary sails and minesweeper for the German navy. The hull of the ship was originally made of wood on steel frames. In 1955 the ship was extended in Belgium and the wooden skin was replaced by steel. Until 1982 the ship served as a fishing boat, but since 1985 it has been used as a training ship with excellent sailing characteristics.
Down in the hold is good to stay. There is a cozy salon and the ship has all the necessary facilities. The ship has several cabins on board, so you can spend the night comfortably on board. Below deck is a common room with 12 seats. There are also 12 seats in the deck house. Here is also the tap buffet and the Hi-Fi system. There is an open galley with professional four-burner gas comfort, large oven, fridge and freezer. On deck is a covered table with space for 14 people.
The Catherina ship is available in the summer for multi-day sailing trips across the Baltic Sea from Kiel.
