Beautiful crossing to Scotland

A wonderful sailing trip in the spring. The journey takes you via the English and Scottish East Coast from Medemblik to Inverness. The total journey is approximately 550 miles in which there will of course be sailed as much as possible. During the trip you will also sail at night and you will fully participate as a crew member in a waiting system, assisted by the permanent crew. An adventurous exciting sailing trip in which you are active with the sailing actions, steering, keeping a lookout and navigation. Once arrived at the East coast of England, beautiful places are visited such as Whitby and Lindesfarne.

Travel information

This itinerary is intended to give an impression of what a trip could look like. Weather and wind have a major influence on this sailing area. The itinerary can be adjusted depending on the weather, but the aim is to always sail as much as possible and discover as many different aspects of this area as possible.

Day 1
Everyone will come on board on Saturday, April 22 at noon. This afternoon is all about getting acquainted, explaining safety on board and everything you need to know about the ship. You will also be informed about the upcoming trip. In the afternoon or the next morning, the ship departs for the North Sea.

Day 2 and 3
Crossing the North Sea. A stage with many sailing miles and a night at sea. We sail towards the English coastal town of Whitby where the ship arrives during day 3. Whitby is a harbor town with a very venerable history dating all the way back to the Middle Ages. The harbor is the heart of the city and from here you can take very nice walks.

Day 4
Rest day in Whitby and plenty of time to explore this ancient town, such as Whitby Abbey or the James Cook Museum. From the elevated Whitby Abbey you have a beautiful view of the town.

Day 5 and 6
An 85 mile journey to Lindesfarne, Holy Island, where the ship arrives in the bay during the day with an impressively large seal population. You can disembark here to visit the island by dinghy. There are remains of an old monastery from 635, Lindisfarne Priory, and on a steep cliff stands a 16th century Lindesfarne castle. Anchor and spend the night in the beautiful sheltered rift area.

Day 7 and 8
Anchor raises for another 175 miles to Inverness. You will arrive here during day 8.

Day 9
Inverness, here is plenty of time to visit the capital of the Scottish Highlands. For example, taste a whiskey in a distillery or visit the Inverness Castle and the Culloden Battlefield. The last evening on board is traditionally concluded with a real captain's dinner and a visit to the Hootananny pub, also known as the nicest pub in town.

Day 10
Around 10.00:XNUMX, after breakfast, everyone says goodbye to each other.
