Adventure trip from Dublin to Scrabster

Board the beautiful tallship Thalassa for an adventurous sailing voyage through the waters of Ireland, Hebrides and Orkney's. During this voyage, the ship sails with the wind in the sails of Dublin, via intermediate destinations, to final destination Scrabster. Exactly when and which intermediate ports are served depends on how the weather is favorable to you. However, the crew ensures an unforgettable impression of sailing and of life on land.
Nature, beautiful views, wildlife, birds, castles and abbeys, that is in a nutshell what you can expect from the trip to the Hebrides. Places that are normally difficult or inaccessible await you and their inhabitants will welcome you with their Scottish cordiality. Enjoy many seabirds such as gannets, puffins and guillemots while sailing. Dolphins and whale sharks often accompany the ship as well.

Travel information

On Saturday 29 July 2023, you will board the ship in Dublin Port at 16.00 PM. Here the captain and his crew give everyone a warm welcome.
You are assigned a cabin, you are introduced to the ship and you are familiarized with the ins and outs on board. From Dublin, the ship calls at Bangor and Belfast, after which it departs for the Hebrides. Here the ship will spend the night in Castle Bay castle bay on the beautiful island of Barra.

From Barra, if the wind permits, the ship will set course for St. Kilda. The St Kilda archipelago is the most important nesting site for seabirds in northwestern Europe and Scotland's first place on the World Heritage List. The largest colony of guillemots in the world is on these islands, as are Britain's largest colonies of puffins and fulmars. In total, more than a million birds nest on the cliffs. St.Kilda also has a rich history and is definitely worth exploring before starting this trip.
After this, the sails are hoisted with the Orkneys as destination. The Orkney Islands or Orkaden are a group of about 200 small islands, the natural habitat of whales and orcas, among others. The Orkney Islands have been inhabited for over 5000 years, as evidenced by impressive excavations and many Standing Stones that dot the landscape.

The final destination is Scrabster. After the crossing, the ship will dock in Scrabster, the northernmost port on the Scottish mainland and of great importance to Scottish fisheries. The place is known as a ferry port to the Orkney Islands.
On Tuesday, August 8, everyone will leave the ship by 10 a.m. at the latest. A train ride from Thurso to Inverness takes about 4 hours, from there you can fly back to the country of origin.
