The harbor of West-Terschelling can be reached in a day by boat from Harlingen, Makkum or Vlieland. Once you get ashore, you walk straight into the village. The shopping streets, restaurants, pubs and many entertainment options contribute to a dynamic atmosphere, especially in the summer months. The Brandaris lighthouse is the most famous building in the village and can be seen from Harlingen in clear weather.
Nature can also be found close to the harbor. At the edge of West-Terschelling is a large and wide beach: the Groene Strand. Behind this is an extensive system of dunes and forests. An ideal area for walking or cycling. On the way, also sample regional specialties such as cranberry compote, sea lavender honey and fresh salicornia.
