History
De Vriendschap was built in 1898 and left the yard in Martenshoek in Groningen. Until 1945, the Vriendschap was used to sail basalt blocks from Emden to the Netherlands for the construction of dikes.
After a renovation in 1987 with a lot of attention to maintaining the authentic character, the Vriendschap came into service as a charter ship with 25 berths. At that time, sailing mainly took place on the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea. In the summer months, the Vriendschap went out to sea and sailed on the Baltic Sea in Denmark.
In 1998, exactly one century old, the Vriendschap was converted into a luxury party ship. The cabins have made way for a large space, in which a luxurious ship's bar and ship's salon have been realized.
Interior
Inside you will find an attractive and large salon where it is comfortable to stay. There is a luxurious ship's bar, and several cozy sitting areas and dining tables. The tables and chairs can also make way for a dance floor. There is a professional catering kitchen, so that we can easily serve the tastiest dishes fresh from our own kitchen. Since we do not have sleeping cabins that take up a large part of the space on other ships, the space below decks is fully equipped for our day guests. Furthermore, the ship is fully equipped such as a beamer, music system and wireless microphone. People who are in a wheelchair can also easily get on board via the wide gangway and are then directly on the middle deck.
The sanitary facilities are spacious in two separate toilet groups for ladies and gentlemen.
On deck
On deck there is plenty of seating in the sheltered cockpit, the benches on the foredeck, or on the lounge cushions.
Because the ship has been inspected for sea, extra safety margins have been built in, such as a high sea rail.
