The Scaldis

The sailing ship Scaldis is a Zeeland pavilion tjalk, a type of ship that was widely used by Zeeland skippers for the potato and sugar beet shipping at the beginning of the last century.

After a working life as a sailing freighter and later as a motor freighter, the ship was put back into service as a sailing passenger ship for a maximum of 33 passengers.

In January 2002, Jaap Klok bought the ship and the ship is again doing what it was built for: sailing in the Zeeland waters. The Scaldis has a large seating area outside so that everyone has a place. Below deck is a beautiful salon with a kitchen, tables and enough seating for the whole group.

Day trip ship with sailing packages

The ship sails morning, afternoon, day and evening trips on southern Dutch waters. The skipper Jan Klok is both a hospitable skipper and someone with a lot of knowledge about the most beautiful waterways. A day trip on the Scaldis is ideal for groups of friends, families or teams of colleagues.

Sailing area

The Zeeland Delta has the most varied and cleanest waterway in the Netherlands. The Oosterschelde is a unique tidal area that never bores. While sailing you regularly see seals and porpoises.

The home port of the Scaldis is Zierikzee, a centrally located port, which is easily accessible by car from the Randstad and Belgium. Free parking is available within walking distance of the harbour.
