Kleine Jager

Welcome to the Little Hunter

Because there is no superstructure on the deck on tjalk Kleine Jager, you have an unobstructed view in all directions. The tarred wooden shutters of the past have made way for a clean and painted steel deck, but otherwise the sailing ship is authentic. The deck is spacious and there is room enough for everyone: cozy together in the cockpit or stretched out on deck in the sun.

Interior

When you go down the stairs you enter the bright spacious day room. The interior is built in Scandinavian style with lots of clear lacquered pine and light colours. There is an open kitchen with a large stove. Here you'll find all the kitchenware you could possibly need, a large work surface, a 6-burner hob, and two sinks with hot and cold running water. There are two refrigerators on board for fresh products and drinks. There are two large dining tables to sit and eat. On the other side of the day room begins the corridor that leads to the five sleeping cabins, the toilet and the shower.

Helmet wood

As in the past, this flat-bottomed ship is not steered with a steering wheel, but with a helmet wood. It is a special experience to steer such a large sailing ship with your hands around the helmet wood through the waves. When the tjalk is well trimmed, send her with your little finger! Whether you sail on the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer or through Friesland, you can always enjoy it. Safety comes first, of course. The skipper therefore pays a lot of attention to explaining how to handle the rig, the traps and the shots.

Sailing on the Little Hunter

Active sailing is certainly appreciated, because many hands make light work. You can count on the crew to ensure that you become familiar with the sailing ship Kleine Jager in a pleasant way. Sailing experience is not necessary to actively sail along. The tjalk is equipped with a high railing with wooden side edges so that it also offers good protection for small children. A family ship par excellence, then. Off to the beaches of Terschelling and Vlieland, or a weekend on a sandbank, anything is possible.
