Baltic Sea tjalk 'Balder' was built in 1899 for the purpose of freight shipping. This goal can still be read from the sturdy and robust line of the ship. Above deck, the ship has been kept as good as original so that her rich history is still clearly present. Below decks, the ship has been fully adapted to today's requirements. Fortunately, they have succeeded in preserving the cozy character of the ship.
Below deck is a spacious and cozy salon with an open kitchen. Here you will find everything you need to prepare a delicious meal. But you can also choose to be surprised by the menu of the ship's cook. The cabins are equipped with a sink with cold and hot water and offer the necessary comfort.
Due to its dimensions, the Balder is not only suitable for the IJsselmeer and inland waters of Friesland, the Wadden Sea with its shallow channels is also easy to navigate with this sturdy tjalk. Skipper Paul Bakker likes to visit this Unesco world heritage site to let his guests be part of this piece of untouched nature with its islands such as Terschelling and Vlieland. He is happy to tell you more about the environment and sailing.
